Understanding What Sudden Female Hair Loss Is

A vast majority of cases of female hair loss is attributed to thinning of their hair on account of hereditary reasons. This kind of thinning of the hair can occur when women are still young and may further develop into female baldness pattern. Fortunately, most cases of female hair loss are not serious and can easily be treated and reversed.

Hair Analysis Tests

In the case of sudden female hair loss there are a few known reasons for the onset of such a problem and to cure the problem only requires consulting a hair specialist who will evaluate the condition and suggest a remedy. Young women often suffer from sudden female hair loss and for them undergoing a test to analyze their hair is the best solution to curing the problem as these tests can establish the reasons for sudden female hair loss which typically include having deficiency in nutrients.

There are several categories of sudden female hair loss and the reasons too for each type are varied. Taking certain kinds of drugs can lead to sudden female hair loss and when such is the case the problem is generally known as telogen effluvium. Such a case means that instead of the hair growing it begins to rest which in turn means that further growth of hair stops.

Telogen Effluvium is a problem and the reason for this kind of sudden female hair loss include taking of oral contraceptives, anti-thyroid medications, medications to control blood pressure, too much of Vitamin A and even taking of drugs to lower cholesterol levels.

Another form of sudden female hair loss, anagen effluvium occurs also due to taking of certain kinds of drugs which include cytoxic drugs that are used in the cure of cancer. Such drugs lead to reduction and cessation of production of cells that normally make the hair grow.

Other reasons for sudden female hair loss include insufficient amounts of minerals and vitamins – especially iron. Even crash diets can cause sudden female hair loss as too changes in the hormones during phases in the life of a woman such as pregnancies and child birth. Sudden female hair loss is also caused because of an alopecia condition that is induced by fever, and ultra-violet radiation too causes this problem in women.

Hair loss is a problem that plagues men in far greater numbers than women though either gender is in great need of finding a proper hair loss solution for their problem. If the problem of hair loss is not rectified it can lead to feelings of insecurity loss of confidence and a lot of embarrassment. Worse still, the problem can lead to baldness which in the case of women would be extremely distressing and embarrassing.
